Rides from Riva del Garda - Italy
There are a number of shorter rides from Riva del Garda to hop on the bike for an hour or two and to get your legs going.
Lago di Tenno
Lago di Tenno is a great little ride to get the legs moving. This is a gentle climb rising over Riva del Garda and the lake. Tenno is a collection of lille gorgeous hamlets perched on the hillside. The SP37 road is not too hard and quite, a good ride to do before breakfast. Lago di Tenno has been formed by a landslide and is also a nice spot to bath. Its waters are wonderfully turquoise and there is a restaurant at the top for a coffee stop.
Route suggestion for a longer ride including the climb to Lago di Tenno: Continues on the SS421 to Fiave and then on the SP5 to Tione di Trento via Passo del Ballino and Passo Duron. This is is a 70km round trip with 1,860m altitude gain if returning the same way.

Passo Udalrico & Lake Cavedine
Lovely little back country ride to Lake Cavedine from Riva via Arco and Dro followed by a 5km climb up a little rickey and sometimes steep road (Via Trebi/Via Carnion) to Cavedine and onwards to Passo San Udalrico.
The downhill to Dro is great and flowing and passes right by the Castello di Drena. This is a 47km ride with a 700m altitude gain. There is a beer garden at Lake Cavedine which is a great place for a coffee stop.
Route Tip: Passo San Udalrico can also be climbed in reverse from Dro which is the more popular route. The descent from San Udalrico to Dro is great and flowing which makes climbing it clockwise from Lago Cavedine the better option

The north of Lake Garda is dramatic and beautiful
Further rides from Riva del Garda - Warning: seriously steep

Malga Grassi
The road to Malga Grassi is 15.2km long and climbs 954m, the last km or so on gravel. It shares a large part of the road to Lago di Tenno before turning off to the left just after Pranzo towards the charming village of Campi.
After Campi the now rickety road becomes steeper and ends up in gravel at the Rifigio at Malga Grassi.

Old Ponale Road
The old access road to Riva has partly been turned into a gravel and pedestrian road and connects Riva with Pregasina which is a little village perched high on a cliff above the lake. This is a busy but spectacular path and requires a gravel or better, a mountain bike. The path network also connect to Lago di Ledro which is just gorgeous.

San Giovanni al Monte
This 10.5km climb from Varignano starts from the northern end of Riva. It is not for the faint hearted though as it climbs 961m with an average of 9.1%.
This taxing road covers 20 hairpin bends and you are rewarded for your efforts with great views. San Giovanni is also a great mountain location.
